WHAT IS A FIBER ROSETTE AND WHAT ROLE DOES IT PLAY?

Fiber Rosette have become a technical bottleneck restricting the popularity of optical fibers in many industries with the large-scale popularization of optical fibers,. Especially in high-tech fields such as radar, medical care, and drones, the demand for high-performance slip rings is particularly strong. Fiber rosette can well meet the requirements of transmission rate and service life in these fields, so fiber rosette have become a substitute for conductive slip rings in more and more industries.

The early fiber Rosette was active, and it was modified on the basis of the conductive slip ring. Photoelectric conversion equipment was installed at both ends. The optical signal was converted into an electrical signal before entering the slip ring, and then transmitted through the conductive slip ring. Another device is re-converted to an optical signal, which does not fundamentally solve the bottleneck in transmission rate and service life. The other method is to realize the direct continuous transmission of optical signals through the combination of optical and mechanical transmission methods, namely passive fiber Rosettes. This method has more obvious advantages and eventually becomes the mainstream technology of fiber Rosettes.

Fiber Rosettes can be divided into single-mode fiber Rosettes, multimode fiber Rosettes and special fiber Rosettes according to the optical fibers used. Single-mode fiber Rosettes use optical fibers with a core diameter of 9 μm. Compared with multimode optical fibers, the transmission performance of single-mode optical fibers is better. The current mainstream single-fiber transmission rate is 10Gb/min, and it is upgrading to 40G optical networks. Because the core diameter of the single-mode fiber is much smaller than that of the multimode fiber, the production of the single-mode fiber slip ring is more difficult, and the precision of the parts is also higher. However, due to the better transmission performance of the single-mode fiber, the single-mode fiber slip ring The amount of fiber is much larger than that of multimode fiber.

The fibers used in multimode fibers are 50/125μm and 62.5/125μm. Due to the large core diameter, the coupling difficulty of optical devices is relatively low, and cheaper LED light sources can be used, and multimode fibers are easy to couple into more Large optical power, in short-distance transmission, in scenarios where numerous light sources are used, the multimode fiber system has a cost advantage.

Special fiber Rosettes are fiber Rosettes made of various unconventional optical fibers, including plastic optical fibers, small diameter optical fibers, large core diameter optical fibers, etc., which are used in industrial control, sensing, and high-power laser systems.

Usually, the wavelengths used by single-mode fiber Rosettes are mainly 1310 nm and 1550 nm, and the wavelengths used by multimode fiber Rosettes are mainly 850 nm and 1300 nm. In addition, some special wavelengths such as 1064, 780, 650 and visible light are also required.
