Benefits of Fiber Optic Box

Fiber optic box are plastic or glass fiber which permits the transmission of communications over large distances and at higher rates. They have almost rendered metallic wires redundant, as they transmit the same but with lots of losses. These box are unique as they are immune to electromagnetic interferences. Fibers used in these box are used in carrying images. Types of Fiber Optic box Single mode and multimode fibers are two basic types of optic box. The difference between the two is in the size of the core. Multi-mode fibers have wider cores thus allow multiple modes of light to propagate. On the ontrary, single mode fibers have narrow cores that allow only a single mode of light to propagate. The multi-mode fibers are designed for use with cheaper light sources such as less precisely aimed lasers. The fibers also reduce tolerance requirements for alignment of connectors. While the cable work effectively with the light sources, their main flaw is that the wide core allows multiple modes of light to propagate and this brings about modal distortion which severely limits the distance at which light travels. In most cases, the light is limited to 20-500 meters because of the signal type. The single mode fibers have a small core size that allows them to support light transmission over long distances. In most cases, the distances can be up to several thousands of kilometers. While this is the case, the units require more expensive and coherent laser light sources for them to work. Benefits of Fiber Optic box l Longer distances - Signals carried through fiber optic cable are much longer than those using copper wires because of low attenuation (signal loss) rates, without requiring a signal repeater to maintain the integrity of the signal over long distances as copper wire box do. l Intrusion prevention - With copper wire cable systems, it is possible to remotely detect a signal being broadcast over the cable, which can present unwanted security loopholes. This is not an issue with fiber optic cable as its dielectric nature makes remote detection impossible, and gaining access to the fiber itself would require a physical intervention that would be easily thwarted by a well placed surveillance system. l Installation improvements - It’s simple and cheap to install because of longer lengths, smaller diameter, and lighter weight of fiber optic cable. l Higher bandwidth and data transfer rates - With wider bandwidth, more data is able to be transferred at a much faster speed. This allows for shorter download times and increased network efficiency. l EMI Immunity - Fiber optic box can be installed in areas with high Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), as the absence of metallic wiring makes the cable completely immune to EMI.
